Were best to showcase beautifully crafted jewellery inspired by nature then on ‘Floral Street’ in Covent Garden, London
Alex Monroe, world renown jewellery designer and artist, asked us to design their new London flagship store on Floral Street, a stones throw from famous Covent Garden.
The space had to contain a large retail area and a workshop and consultation room on the ground floor, as well as a space for jewellery making classes, a kitchenette, customer and staff toilets and a stock room in the basement – all within an 85sqm store footprint.
The choice of material and visual language had to be carefully considered and refined to perfectly reflect the brands values and be instantly recognisable. Although a destination location for existing customers, the space also had to be designed in a way that would draw in new customers passing by.
Our main source of inspiration for the store design came from the jewellery designs and further Alex’s and the teams unsaturable love for all things nature.
Raw sawn and painted timber clad walls throughout, complimented by pressed plants in frames and bespoke designed display cases based on tables found in natural history museums offered the ideal framework to build on.
In order to draw in customers, came up with the idea of installing a hive like structure in the entrance, covered with countless golden bees in different sizes, the bee being their most recognisable and best selling product, it felt like an impactful and nice touch.
Throughout, details such as the main entrance door handle, made of a cast gold branch, and other small scale individually cast golden animals, insects and other elements make this store and its brand really come to life.
